Twisty Studios for B2B

B2B Commerce, Built Properly

Wholesale is not retail with a discount code bolted on. We design and build online trade experiences for brands whose buyers order by the pallet, not the pair.

We specialise in wholesale commerce, working with brands across the UK, USA and beyond. Most of our clients sell both ways - to consumers and to trade - and need the two to live under one roof without either one suffering for it.

We build the awkward stuff: tiered pricing, account-gated catalogues, credit terms, and order logic that has to hold up under real trade volume. Shopify and Shopify Plus, end to end.

B2B Ecommerce Solutions We Offer

There's a lazy assumption that wholesale buyers will tolerate a worse experience than consumers. They won't - they're just less likely to complain and more likely to go back to email. A trade portal that respects your buyer's time is one of the cheapest retention tools you'll ever build.

We've spent years untangling the genuine complexity wholesale introduces: pricing that shifts per account, catalogues that differ per region, and checkout behaviour that bears little resemblance to D2C. On the platform side we work across Shopify's native B2B tooling and custom architecture built with Shopify Functions. On the front end, we design interfaces made specifically for the way trade buyers actually shop - fast, repetitive, and volume-led.

How We Run a B2B Build

Our Process

Wholesale projects fail in discovery, not development. Before anything is designed, we map how your trade accounts actually behave - how pricing is agreed, what gets negotiated, where the exceptions live, and what your sales team is currently doing by hand. That map decides the architecture. From there, we shape the platform: native Shopify B2B, a third-party layer, or custom logic where the standard tooling won’t reach. We’re upfront when the simpler option is the right one. Design comes next - full UI for logged-in and logged-out states, pricing tables, reorder flows and account management, prototyped before a line of production code exists. Then we build, test against real order scenarios rather than sample data, and launch with your team trained on it. After that we stay on, because the first three months of live trade orders always surface something the spec didn’t.

The Technology Layer

We work with the wholesale tooling that actually holds up in production, and we’ll tell you which one suits you rather than defaulting to whatever we set up last. For Shopify Plus brands, Shopify’s native B2B functionality is usually the strongest starting point - one store, one catalogue, company accounts and purchase rules handled natively rather than stitched together. Where it falls short of a specific requirement, we extend it. For brands not on Plus, or with requirements the native tooling doesn’t cover, we build with dedicated wholesale platforms such as SparkLayer, and have implemented a broad range of app-based approaches besides. We’ve also inherited enough half-finished wholesale builds to know what the failure modes look like.

Pricing, Payments & Trade Features

The Functional Requirements

Trade buyers arrive with expectations formed by decades of doing this over the phone. Meeting them takes a set of features D2C stores simply don’t need. Pricing is rarely one number. It’s volume-banded, account-specific, contractually agreed, and it needs to resolve correctly the moment a buyer logs in. Layered on top are order thresholds - minimums that protect your margin, maximums that protect your stock. Then there’s payment. Trade rarely means card-at-checkout. It means net terms, purchase orders, credit limits and offline settlement, all of which need to work inside a checkout that was designed for consumers. Getting this right is the difference between a portal your accounts team trusts and one they quietly work around.

Customer Experience & Implementation

Architecture decides what’s possible. The interface decides whether anyone uses it. We design specifically for wholesale behaviour: what a buyer sees before they’ve logged in versus after, how volume pricing is presented so the next tier is obvious, how minimums and maximums are communicated before someone hits an error, and an account area built around reordering rather than order history. Content matters more than most brands expect. Using Shopify’s Online Store 2.0, we build pages that speak to trade buyers in their language — lead times, MOQs, terms, territory — instead of forcing them through consumer marketing written for someone else. A buyer who finds the answer without emailing your sales team is a buyer who’ll order again.
